This iconic place of worship, dedicated to Lord Ganesh, came to be following a tragic loss to a loving family.

Dagadusheth Halwai was a trader who hailed from Latur, Maharashtra. He was also a sweet maker, hence his surname.

Sadly, his son met his demise due to the plague in the 1800s.

Saddened by the loss of their child, Halwai and his wife decided to build a Ganpati temple to help with their healing and move on from their loss.
